Rumor has it that Sharp makes the screens in the big Sony and Samsung sets, while Sony and Samsung use their own electronics to drive the pictures.

You will be very happy with any of the sets mentioned here, with one caveat. When it is delivered, please unpack it and turn it on while the delivery men are still there, in case you are unlucky enough to get a set that arrives with some defect. Uncommon but it does happen.
The screen aspect ratio of an hdtv has that theater look. The HDTV aspect ratio is about 16/9. This is a result of the resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Some earlier and smaller HDTV sets had 1280 × 720 pixels, but the larger sets have the full HD resolution.
With the old TVs, a viewer would be comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size. If you had a 24 inch set, you would sit about 6 to 8 feet away. But with the new HDTV sets, the resolution is much better so you can sit closer without noticing the pixel dots. With HDTVs, you will be happy sitting from about 1.5 to 3 times the screen size away, and be caught up in the viewing best experience.
For a new 65 inch lcd tv, you will want to sit from about 8 to 16 feet from the screen. With the dimensions given, you can use a tape measure and plan where the new big screen will go. If you wish you can use a wall mount.
Recommended to go with your new set are a separate home theater speaker system, and a Blu-ray player. These new sets have more picture detail than a DVD can deliver, so you will want to have the higher pixel fidelity of one of the Blu-ray players. The small speakers built in just cannot give you the satisfying sound experience that you want to go with the gorgeous new picture. Stereo with a subwoofer works great. Also, you can install surround sound.
Surround sound is available as an output from the Blu-ray players. Trademarks used in this site, such as Sharp, Sony and Samsung, are the property of their owners and not of this site.
